About Life Focus Counseling

“Take care of your mind. Your body will thank you. Take care of your body. Your mind will thank you.”

— Debbie Hampton

The Life Focus Philosophy: Neglecting Your Mind Neglects Your Body

At Life Focus Counseling, healing the mind also heals the body. Studies show strong connections between mental and physical health — something you’ve probably felt yourself when stress leads to tension, fatigue, or even illness.

As an avid fitness walker, I’ve seen firsthand how movement can support both body and mind. The same principle applies to therapy: we’ll focus on your whole self, mind, body, and spirit. With new tools and expert guidance, you will create long-lasting change rather than short-term fixes.

Trying to “power through” emotional pain is like putting tape over a car’s check engine light. You can ignore it for a while, but eventually the strain affects everything. Our work together focuses on healing the root issue so you can move forward with strength and clarity.

“Take care of your mind. Your body will thank you. Take care of your body. Your mind will thank you.”

— Debbie Hampton

I’ve found this to be true in both my own life and the work I do with clients every day.

It’s time to focus on YOU!

My Background and Counseling Approach

My path to counseling began in the world of business. From 2000 to 2002, I owned and operated a women’s fitness center franchise (Curves). Watching women build community, improve their health, and transform their confidence showed me the undeniable link between mind and body — a lesson that still shapes my practice today.

I went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in 2006 (though I’m personally non-denominational). I’ve led workshops on relationships, parenting, and emotional wellness, and draw from over 40 years of marriage and raising three children to bring practical, compassionate understanding to my work.

My EMDR therapy certification has been especially impactful. After seeing that some clients improved with traditional talk therapy while others felt stuck, I pursued EMDR to help people process trauma at its root. It’s become a cornerstone of my practice.

I’m non-denominational in faith but comfortable incorporating spirituality if it’s meaningful to you. My approach is client-centered and inclusive — I meet you where you are and help you move toward healing in a way that feels right for you.
